John Gardner

Assistant Registrar of Voters for Solano County

John Gardner is the assistant registrar of voters for Solano County and has been a part of the registrar's office since his move from Colorado in 2011. Mr. Gardner was instrumental in leading the registrar of voters' team through the success of elections in Solano County since 2012. Throughout the past four years, John has improved operations and efficiencies in the office including: ballot handling security improvements, deployment of electronic rosters countywide, cross-training staff, increasing office transparency, and implementing on-line registration processes.
Externally, John has worked with municipalities, school districts, and various community groups to help them understand and manage election costs, and help to address internal program issues such as finding adequate polling places, poll workers, and improving technology use in the election arena. John currently chairs the statewide Vote Cal Business Process Committee and is actively involved in modernizing our voter registration system.
John previously served in Colorado elections at both the state and county level. John has over 14 years of experience in elections, holds a master's degree in public administration from Norwich University, and is a CERA graduate, a nationally recognized elections registration and administration training
program.
