President of Vintage Valley Blue Star Mothers (VVBSM) will be our guest speaker for March 2017. VVBSM is a non-profit (501{c} 3), non-partisan, non-political organization, and is a support and service group covering Solano, Napa, and Yolo Counties in the State of California.
Primarily, this involves sending letters, care packages, holding events, arranging for family meet-ups, and finding ways to honor family members for their sacrifice. Members are mothers, fathers, family, and friends of military personnel who are currently serving or who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States.
The Solano County chapter also holds regular visits to wounded warriors, firstly to deliver care packages, but also to give them someone to talk to, or to see other ways that they can help out. Sometimes, this even involves going to cemeteries and placing wreaths or flowers on the tombstones of the fallen. Meetings are held each month on the second Tuesday at 301 North Orchard Ave. Vacaville 7pm-8pm Next event: Mar 4 9 AM Troop Packing Party Orchard Baptist Church. Born in Sacramento and raised in Elk Grove my entire life, I didn’t travel very far to UC Davis for higher education. Although I didn’t get involved into politics until college, I always loved politics and history. So when coming to Davis, I joined the Davis College Republicans where in my first year, I became Secretary; in my second year I became Executive Director and Vice Chair, and now in my third year I happily serve as Chair. Also in my second year, I had the pleasure of being elected to the state board for the California College Republicans, serving as Capital Region Vice-Chair.
Though I’ve loved being a College Republican and will continue to be very active in my final college year, I have also ventured out to other political organizations, such as re-chartering and becoming President of the Sacramento Log Cabin Republicans and becoming Relations Coordinator of Davis AIPAC. With these several positions/organizations, an internship, a fraternity, and classes, I stay busy, well diversified in my work/volunteer experience, and sleeping is my hobby.
In my free time, I like dancing in the rain and long walks on the beach… just kidding, though that does sound fun. I enjoy traveling, playing board games, and satisfying my obsession with the color orange by collecting everything in the color orange."
