Mr. Takeuchi was born in Los Angeles in 1937. In 1942 family was sent to a "Relocation Camp" in Arkansas, where they remained until 1944. They thereafter traveled to Illinois and Hawaii visiting relatives, and returned to Los Angeles in 1948.

John graduated from UCLA in 1960 with a BA in Meteorology, and was next commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and entered US Air Force Pilot Training. He was assigned to Travis Air Force Base in 1962 and flew C-124 and C-141 planes.

He fulfilled two assignments to Vietnam-1963 and 1969, and was then a Staff officer at headquarters for the Military Airlift Command in Illinois. He thereafter went to Hawaii in the same capacity, and returned to Fairfield in 1975 at which time he was a Staff Weather Officer at Travis.

Mr. Takeuchi received his M.S. degree in Systems Management at USC in 1984, and then returned to flying duty with the 75th Airlift Squadron at Travis AFB, where he flew C-5 aircraft from 1978 to 1988. He retired from active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1988. He was employed as a flight simulator instructor at Flight Safety International from 1988 to 2000.

He has spent the last 18 years volunteering locally at for numerous causes including Vision 2020, which was tasked with re-writing the Fairfield General Plan, he chaired the Open Space Task Force, has been a part of the Rush Ranch restoration and Patwin Indian Program since 1989, and was a Fairfield Senior Center Bingo "caller" and day-trip driver from 1992 to 2008. John has worked at the Travis Pharmacy since 1998, and has been one of the driving forces at the Central Solano Citizen/Taxpayer group since 1998.

John will be speaking to us on some "old" propositions that are still very relevant, in effect, and protecting us today-as well as some that aren't.
